In July, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) released the New Era of Smarter Food Safety Blueprint (blueprint), which outlines the agency’s approach to implementing changes over the next ten (10) years.

Now, the FDA is hosting a webinar featuring Deputy Commissioner Frank Yiannas and other leaders of the blueprint’s four Core Elements.

When: Monday, October 26, 2020
Time: 2–4 p.m. EDT

During the webinar, leaders will address the new approach the FDA is taking to food safety, including the technologies and tools being used to create a safer, more digital, and traceable food system in the U.S.

The FDA will also discuss achievements and accomplishments within the first 100 days, as well as next steps and priorities for the next two or more years and their plans to engage with stakeholders.

Topics will include (from the FDA announcement)

  • the people at FDA who are leading this effort, their vision for achieving the goals set forth in the blueprint, and an inside look at how they are doing that,
  • the milestones/achievements of the first 100 days since the blueprint was issued,
  • Key next steps and priorities for the next two years – and beyond, and
  • [FDA] plans to engage with stakeholders.

Registration for the webinar is required and closes Thursday, October 22, at 5 p.m. EDT. Registration includes an opportunity to ask questions to be addressed during the webinar.
